LEADING A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE IS GOOD FOR YOUR FUTURE

Over the past week we chatted to Jason, a certified personal trainer and coach to learn about the benefits of exercise! Keep reading to find out what we learnt!

Being healthy and happy is a choice, and Jason has made the conscious decision to be exactly that. Jason Carrolus is personal trainer and coach who takes pride and joy in looking after his own health whilst educating others to do the same. Meaning you, reading this now, have the choice each day to make your day a little brighter, a little happier and a little more active.

BUT HOW DO I FIND THE MOTIVATION?

Finding motivation to move each day can be challenging when it's the last thing you feel like doing – but that is the exact moment when you should do it. As Jason said, "You can perform any form of exercise, it doesn't matter, as long as you move. Do something you enjoy or something you're interested to learn how to do. It can be running, lifting weights or playing soccer". You don't need a fancy gym or equipment, all you need is an able body and a strong mindset!

A way to get started and make sure you do it is to hold yourself accountable. Find a partner to do it with, so get your mentee and some of their friends to join in. Check-in with each other once a week to make sure that you all got up and active.
Another tip is to set a weekly goal for yourself, whether it's doing 25 squats a day or making sure you move 3 days a week. Start with small, try set achievable goals so you don't disappoint yourself. Remember exercise is meant to be a part of your lifestyle and not feel like a chore.

HOW DOES IT HELP ME?

"I exercise because I enjoy it. I enjoy the benefits of exercise and it's easy to do something you enjoy. There's no effort in showing up because I know it's going to benefit me." Jason said it!

There are many benefits of exercise. One of those benefits being how exercise will help keep you away from underage consumption and other social pressures, guiding you to a healthier lifestyle that's good for you and your future.

Here are a few other important benefits of exercise:

It can make you feel happier
It can help with depression and anxiety
It can help decrease stress levels
It can improve self-confidence
It can make you healthier
It can assist in weight loss
It can assist in muscle gain
It can improve the quality of your sleep
It can keep you away from things you do out of boredom
It can improve the health of your brain

Keeping active can be as simple as going for a walk, you don't have to always do the same thing or the most strenuous activity to keep active. Try different things and make it enjoyable.
Staying active and healthy will keep you away from things that don't benefit you – like underage drinking.
